In the CMSA Kingdom, the greatest enemy was not disease alone—it was unemployment, lack of skills, and uncertainty. Talented healers stood ready, yet many waited without posts, without theatres, without wards to call their own. But instead of giving up, they prepared.
Ngonyama the Lion (Surgery) sharpened his skills every day. Even when operating lists were short and opportunities scarce, he trained his mind and hands relentlessly. He knew that when the call came, hesitation would cost lives.
Olifa the Olifant (Internal Medicine) carried knowledge like a library. While others doubted their future, she studied deeper—learning patterns, mastering systems, building wisdom that could not be taken away. She believed preparation was employment in waiting.
When hope seemed thin, Mkhomby the Rhino (OBGYN) stood firm. He trained to protect mothers and bring new life safely into the world, knowing that every birth saved was proof that the kingdom still had a future.
In the background, unseen but essential, Naree the Buffalo (Anaesthesiology) remained vigilant. Calm in chaos, Naree reminded the others that survival depends on teamwork—and that quiet roles often save the most lives.
When emergencies struck without warning, Luvhe the Leopard (Emergency and Family Medicine) moved fast. Whether in clinics, wards, or community settings, Luvhe treated whoever arrived—employed or not, prepared or learning—because patients could not wait for systems to catch up.
Among the smallest patients, Nsephe the Springbok (Paediatrics, Medicine and Surgery) brought hope. Swift, gentle, and determined, Nsephe showed that even in a broken system, children deserved the best care and the brightest future.
And shining with confidence stood Xikankanka the Cheetah (Dermatology and Aesthetics)—a beauty queen with purpose. She healed skin and restored dignity, reminding patients that health includes self-worth, confidence, and being seen.
Together, they built themselves when the system could not. They studied when jobs were scarce. They supported each other when morale was low. And when patients arrived—injured, sick, afraid—they delivered care with excellence.
They were not just waiting to become doctors.

Clinical Medical Sciences Academy Prep (CMSA Prep) is a comprehensive, expanding postgraduate medical education platform designed to support doctors across multiple disciplines and stages of training. While initially focused on surgical training and CMSA examinations, the platform is intentionally structured to grow beyond surgery to include a broad range of clinical sciences, professional certifications, and postgraduate qualifications.
CMSA Prep provides structured, exam-focused learning resources that integrate foundational sciences, clinical reasoning, and applied knowledge. The platform is developed with a strong emphasis on South African examination standards, healthcare context, and postgraduate training requirements, ensuring relevance and academic rigor at every level.
CMSAprep is an independent educational resource and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. It is developed by medical professionals, voiced by medical professionals, and designed to guide medical professionals.
